Jeux D'enfants

Jeux d'enfants: 2003

IMDB: 7.7

Cast: Marion Cotillard (as Sophie Kowalsky), Guillaume Canet (as Julien Javier)

The movie starts with Sophie and Julien's childhood. They meet when Julien helps Sophie with the school bullies. Julien gives Sophie a box that his mother gave him before she died. They do pranks all the time while they grow up. As they grow up, these harmless pranks become more serious like ruining each other's weddings. Each time one makes a prank, he or she passes the box to the other. That's the rule of their game. They fall in love without even realising. Both of them thinks that this 'love' is a game. They set a time every time they're angry with each other and don't see each other until then. Their last game will be the most dangerous one of all.

Personal Thoughts: I find French movies strange but cute most of the time. French movies are full of small details. Just like in the movie "AmeliĆ©" the atmosphere is so unique that you can't find in American movies. The movie was full of love, culture and a lot of surprises. Two actors got married after this movie. Just as I said before, the movie is full of details like the box that Julien gave to Sophie. The box doesn't go anywhere since day one. The box dies with them. I think it's romantic. I'm not a big fan of romantic movies but sometimes I find them so cute. Especially the ones with the childhood scenes. Maybe it's because the innocence in childhood. Also the symbolic things are the ones that make their relationship unique like them always setting a time and always passing the box. Until they stop passing the box, the game never ends and that makes them never forget about each other.
